1999 – 2007 "All is hanging online" is on the road around the world. Barbara Streiff`s installation/performance of expressive motion paintings on newspaper capture the happenings of the moment in public places. 1999 was the beginning of the project motion paintings and portraits in the railway station in Glarus, Switzerland, where the artist Barbara Streiff lives and works. The artist sketched people as they waited and moved through the station. This art is not freshened, emotions and movement are allowed, and everyone is welcome to be a part of the action. She painted and exhibited directly on the wall in the waiting room. The quiet, dim room, where before only the ticking of the clock could be heard, came alive. The work “expressive motion paintings of happenings” lent a new importance to the public space. 2000 – 2001 Performance in New York. (Text: NY ARTS December 2000) She sits at the Grand Station, at Broadway, Chinatown, Central Park, at Place Pigalle, a current newspaper on her knees. The daily rags around the world are her canvas. The intent of these action "Comics" is the expressionistic "free flow of everyday life." They speak of passion, pathos, and skill. This “boulevard performance” mirrors from the inside what passes outside.
